
David Rietow has been involved in Hawaii's agriculture for the past 35 years, primarily with diversified crops. He is a graduate of Arizona State University with a B.S. degree in Agronomy.
In addition to serving as president of Agro Resources, Inc., Rietow is president of Agricon Hawaii, Inc. Agricon Hawaii is an agricultural consulting and land management company.
He is a stockholder, director, and secretary of Keaau Agromac, Inc. Keaau Agromac, Inc. is a macadamia farming corporation.
Rietow was co-owner, vice president, and secretary of The Tropical Connection, formerly one of Hawaii's largest grower/marketers of tropical flowers and foliages. He was responsible for all facets of production and developed unique packing material concepts aimed at reducing transit stress associated with the shipping of cut tropical flowers and foliages. Rietow was instrumental in the development of a marketing program which was, at the time, unique to the floral industry.
He was formerly vice president for production with Mac Farms of Hawaii. In this capacity he managed the company's orchard and processing operations in South Kona, Hawaii. Mac Farms is the world's largest grower/producer of macadamia nuts.
Prior to joining Mac Farms, Rietow was the Field Establishment Department manager for Maui Pineapple Co., Ltd. At Maui Pine, he was responsible for all facets of field preparation at the company's Haliimaile Division.
Rietow is president of the Hawaii Macadamia Nut Association, a director of the Agribusiness Development Corporation and on the Board of Governors for the Hawaii Employer's Council. He is a former chairman of the Board for the Hawaii Employers Mutual Insurance Company and is the former vice chair of the Small Business Regulatory Review Board (State of Hawaii). Rietow is past chairman of the Board of West Hawaii Explorations Academy and past chairman of the Commodity Advisor Group, Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation.
